Wartime Miners Man-Powered - World War 2

During WW2 Collie Miners were exempt military service in order to maintain the essential mining industry.

Workers were encouraged to continue in the industry. However ‘Collie Boys’ did not heed the call and many quit their jobs and enlisted to serve the nation. The following is an extract from the Collie Mail June 1941.
